Product Description
This string quartet has five movements: Canada, America, Mexico, Brazil and Mayan. Each movement has some connection to its country, except "Mayan".
"Mayan" was born from the first measure in the Cello.I was trying for a distinctive Central American rhythm and couldn't find one. Or rather, the ones I found depended more on the instruments than the rhythm itself. So I made up one. Which is why its called "Mayan", even though I have no idea what it really is, except mine This may be the reason all the "African" music in the 40's films sounds so cheesy..
This quartet is appropriate for advanced high school or college level musicians. (Resist the urge to slow it down too much; try another movement.) The movements are independent of each other, allowing you to build a piece of a certain length.
All together it takes about 13-15 minutes.
