Product Description

A traditional New Orleans tune arranged for brass quinted with an optional part for hand drum. The song is a certain crowd pleaser perfect for getting the audience on their feet and clapping along. The rhythm of the arrangement is a funky caribe beat known as a "bamboula". A "bamboula" was a primitive drum that made its way to New Orleans via Haiti during the 18th century. Enslaved people would gather in Congo Square, next to the French Quarter and dance to the rhythm of the bamboula. The dances also became known as a bamboula. The infectious beat made its way into the music of the early New Orleans Jazz Bands. Even today, if you visit Congo Square in New Orleans, you often find groups of musicians and dancers enjoying the beat of the bamboula!
