Product Description

The first chapter in the history of Ragtime is Cakewalk. In the closing years of the 19th Century, Cakewalk dance contests were prevalent nation-wide, an exclusively Black cultural artifact. Music had to be produced to fill the need, and there was a large number of good composers up for the job. Mr. Guy, born in Zanesville, Ohio, spent his working life in Detroit. His Echoes from the Snowball Club was his most successful work.

This product was created by a member of ArrangeMe, Hal Leonard's global self-publishing community of independent composers, arrangers, and songwriters. ArrangeMe allows for the publication of unique arrangements of both popular titles and original compositions from a wide variety of voices and backgrounds.
