This work is originally for medium voice and chamber orchestra and consists of six songs. The song texts deal with a young girl's experiences of growing up in the rural South. The mp3 excerpt is song #6, "Crossroads Store," a favorite hangout of the locals. This song is almost a catalog aria of the contents and aura of such a place. The orchestral parts are available from the composer. Duration is ca. 27 minutes for the entire set.
